Real Life Real People Real Church

The Story of Journey Church

On August 1, 2006, thirteen people met in the home of pastor Robby Johnson.  After praying together, these thirteen people decided to form Journey Church.  Meetings were held over the next several weeks for prayer, Bible study, and planning.  On Sunday, October 29, we held our first Sunday morning worship service at Jones County Baptist Association office in Laurel.  Our numbers and excitement grew as we enjoyed wonderful worship together and as the vision for Journey Church became clear.

In January of 2007, led by God, we leased a building at 547 Commerce Street in Laurel, Mississippi, to serve as a more permanent meeting place.  We immediately began planning and working toward our public launch service, which we scheduled for Sunday, March 4, 2007.

Our last worship service at 547 Commerce Street in Laurel, will be on Sunday, August 21, 2011. We will have our first worship service in our new facility at 130 Northeast Drive, Laurel, on Sunday, August 28, 2011.
